Trees are solid. Trees are strong. When we are not feeling so stable and strong, we can be like a tree to regain balance and a sense of connection. We are more like nature than we may think. The five elements of nature exist within us as well as around us. Earth, water, fire, air and space. Each one has a quality that we can cultivate. I Am A Tree is a kids Yoga practice, not just for kids, that cultivates earth energy. With so much uncertainty all around us, we need to bring in its gentle opposite to balance. Trees ain’t goin’ nowhere. They know who they are. They stand their ground. They provide shade and shelter, fruit and flowers.
This 17-minute Yoga practice is basic enough for beginners and suited for children (and adults) of all ages. It’s a practice you can turn to again and again. Breathe, stretch and stabilize. You can pull elements of this practice out to use as a quick 5-minute reset too.
At the end of this practice, you are invited to draw yourself as a tree. We’d love to see it!
